Milestones

A milestone is something that happens in a year of your plan: buy a property, retire, have a child, change career, a large purchase, pay off a debt, stop saving, or just a named year.

When it happens

• At year: the year you choose.
• At another milestone: the same year as another, such as retiring when the mortgage is paid off.
• When a condition holds: the first year something is true, such as cash above an amount.
• As soon as affordable: Runway finds the first year it can happen and the plan still pays its way after.

When a milestone can’t happen before the plan ends it reads not reached. Runway never pretends it happens in the last year.

Free accounts have four milestones; Plus has as many as you like. A plan that already has more than four when Plus ends keeps them all.
